Bang Idin :Pendekar Lingkungan dari Betawi

Band Idin "Haji Chaeruddin"
" Gue nggak bangga. Buat apa penghargaan?

Blessing Human Happiness

Not what we have but what we use, not what we see but what what we choose -
these are things that mar or bless human happiness.

To be happy is the pursuit of any human being. Compared to sadness, happiness breeds an atmosphere of joy and strength that sustains and energizes us.
To be happy at work, to be happy at play, to be happy in our homes and admidst our familiy is something that all of us desire. But how do we find this happiness?
Here are 5 truths that I trust will clearly define it for you.

  •  Happiness doesn't come from what we have
I have seen happier people in an African village hut with a dirt floor than someone I knew who lived in a multi-million dollar mansion overlooking water, with the Riviera and jet skis parked near or on the pontoon, and the 7 series BMW parked in their garage.
It’s a fact that having things, having talent, having money, and having all the trappings will not necessarily equate to happiness in your life. But how much better it is to be happy with or without – whether you abound or are abased.

  • 2. Happiness comes from what we use
By simply deciding to be happy, no matter what you find yourself doing at the time, it will lead to only one thing – happiness.I have experienced happiness cleaning toilets, packing shelves, writing and publishing books, conducting meetings as the CEO of my own company, coaching other businesses and speaking professionally. It’s not what I have done that has been my greatest source of happiness. It has been using what I have at the time with the knowledge and understanding I had. Joy has been bred by having an attitude to be ever learning and ever growing in a state of happiness.

    • Happiness doesn’t come from what we see

Some say ‘seeing is believing’. I would rather declare that ‘believing is in seeing’.
When I have at times had to do things that may not have necessarily fitted my ‘dream’ list of activities, I have learnt to be happy by focussing on my own personal dream for my future, recognising that the current task I may be engaged in is simply a vehicle that is carrying me to my destination.
Life is filled with seasons, and by approaching the summers, winters, autumns or falls and springs of our life with a positive attitude, then happiness can be our companion throughout the coldest morning, the sunniest afternoon, or the darkest night.

    • Happiness comes from what we choose
Choice is a magnificent word. We can, in an instant, choose to be unhappy, and yet on the flipside of that we can also choose to be happy.
Every day, throughout the three years that I owned and operated a cleaning business, I had the choice to either approach each dirty house or factory I faced with a smile or a frown.
Satisfaction was gained by focussing on the end result of each completed cleaning assignment before I even started. Two outcomes were presented to me – a place was transformed into a property that shone in a state of cleanliness that I created and this filled me with a healthy sense of pride, and secondly the financial reward received for a job well done.
In business for myself, I was in charge of my own destiny without being at the beck and call of an employer.
    • Happiness must rise from within
John Mason states that ‘these are the things that mar or bless human happiness.’ So dependant upon how you apply the above four truths, your happiness will be determined.
Happiness must rise from within, unaffected by the circumstances surrounding us.
Take time to develop this winning habit – a state of ‘dissatisfied satisfaction’ that moves you forward towards your dreams, filled with happiness, and you will experience nothing less than a blessed life.
So what are you going to do today to put a stamp of happiness on your life?

Helping Others Can Make You Healthier

Helping others can make you  feel good, But did you know it can acctually be good for your health ?
The feeling importanance, brought about by compliments and appriciation, is good for physcal health, as well as your mental well-being. That is why mpst self motivation and personal development courses preach the importance of doing good for others. The reciprocal appriciation you receive will acctually make you a healthier person.

The feeling of importance, brought about by compliments and appreciation, is good for your physical health, as well as your mental well-being. That is why most self motivation and personal development courses preach the importance of doing good for others. The reciprocal appreciation you recieve will actually make you a healthier person.

And that's not all. Whether you are the giver or recipient, it is good for both of you. There are medical findings that substantiate health effects brought about by positive emotions like compliments and appreciation, as well as a powerful tool for self motivation.

Frequent doses of the feeling of importance activate the brain cells and various hormones in the body that promote good health. Simply put, the feeling of importance is the elixier of life.

Can you think of a better way to nourish other people’s feelings than to show your concern and appreciation? Well, there is one thing that worls better than appreciation, and that is - a truckload of appreciation.

So start making others feel good today. Your health depends on it.

5 Way How to Stay Focused

Often time, we find ourselves going back and forth in term of working on our goals and your growth as hman beings. We'll go through periods where we work hard consistenly everyday witout ever feeling bumed out, then sometimes we shift anda go through periods where we stagnate anda put them off for a time. let's be clear however, that there as a big difference between taking small breaks such as a vacation, and stagnation.

Here are 5 tips that have helped me stay focused in times when the procrastination bug starts to bite.

    1. Clear All Unnecessary Distractions
A big source of stagnation is what we do in our daily lives which serve no true purpose except to distract us. If you want to stay focused on achieving your dreams, you need to find everything in your life that is distracting you from that.
Some of the big ones for me were:

    • Television
    • Video games
    • Poor relationships
    • Unhealthy food
    • Other people’s drama

There were many more which I had to remove from my life, and there still is, but these were the ones that were having the biggest impact. All of these were taking my focus off of my goals when I participated in them.
Now of course some distractions are extremely difficult to give up, a lot of them are very addicting. Video games and television are extremely addicting, at least they were for me. But giving them up has been a true blessing in my life. No matter how difficult it is, know that it will be worth it in the end.

    2. Keep a Journal
Writing in a journal has been a profound benefit for me. What helps best is writing down my goals and also my progress. Knowing that you’re progressing is a great way to stay motivated. Who wants to keep doing something when they think all their efforts are for nothing? Often times, our growth and important steps towards our goals are overlooked or ignored. Writing down every single positive step you’ve taken towards your goals, no matter how small it may seem, will always serve as a reminder that you ARE progressing, and that reaching your goals happens one step at a time.
Write down some areas in your life and go through them. Note how you’ve improved in those areas, and what you think you could do to improve even more. Here are a few examples that I use:

    • Physical
    • Mental
    • Financial
    • Relationships
    • Family
    • Emotional
    • Spiritual

    3. Create New Habits
When you want to move from a habit that you know is stagnating you, to one that is beneficial and empowering, the best way is to stick with it for at least 21 days. Doing this will engrave it into your personality, and you will eventually start doing it without even thinking about it. After about 21-30 days you’ll start noticing the positive changes it’s having on your life.
For example, if you want to start going to the gym, mark down in a calendar when you want to go and what time. This way you will always have something to remind you of your goal. After 21 days of not giving up, you won’t need a calendar anymore because it is now a habit.

    4. Surround Yourself With People That Have Similar Goals
If you’re trying to improve your life and remove things which are preventing you from doing that, it doesn’t make much sense to hang around people who are still stuck in the things which you are trying to move on from. This one can be difficult for a lot of people. Some of us are in relationships, and have friends that we’ve known for a long time, but they may not be interested in the same goals you are. There’s nothing wrong with knowing that you’ve outgrown someone and moving on, especially if they have no interest in improving themselves.
Moving on from people which are holding you back will be a great weight lifted on your shoulders. I’ve noticed that when I move on from specific aspects of my life that are preventing me from progressing, new ones start to come into my life which help accelerate my goals. It’s like being a receiver in football. You have this defender on you running everywhere you go, preventing you from catching the ball. But after a few plays you begin to realize what you need to do to get past him, and catch the pass for a touchdown.

    5. Take Breaks
As I said earlier, there is a big difference in taking some time off, and pure stagnation. Taking some time off recharges and refreshes your mind. The absolute best thing for me is going camping or hiking. Being out in nature is very calming and balancing. All the answers to my questions just seem to be answered so much easier when I’m out in nature. And I always come back with new insights and a focused mind.
    Conclusion
Growing as a human being and achieving our dreams is meant to be a fun experience, it’s what we’re here for, it’s what we’re designed to do. The problem in today’s society is that there are so many things that we get caught up in which can do the opposite. There are many different obstacles that we must overcome in our lives, and there always will be, but they don’t have to be looked at as negative experiences. Everything we do in our lives is a lesson of some kind, even the most negative experiences have some kind of lesson to be learned, usually the most important ones.
A strong motivator for me is knowing that once I’ve overcome something which isn’t helping me in my growth, I now am more credible to help someone who might be going through the same thing. If I achieve a goal, now I am in a position to help others who may have that same goal.

The Frog Stay in Boiling Water

What do frogs have to do with self motivation and personal development ?

Here's an old school science experiment for you. Take two frogs, two pans of water and two burners. Now let the first pan of water come to boil then try placing the first frog into the boiling water.
What happens? he will hop out very quickly.

Now, take the second pot of water, set it on the burner and let it just get a little lukewarm. Now place the second frog in the lukewarm water. Let the water continue to get hot. The frogs will stay in the boiling water longer than the first one did.. Why is that? Because the change wasn't as drastic so was able to get used to the change in temperature quicker.

Your personal life is much the same way. You may have reached a point in your life when you are ready for change and are willing to put forth the effort to make that change happen. But it's usually the sudden shifts in your "climate", the drastic upheavels, that let you know there's a problem and it's time to try something different.

the slower changes aren't as noticable, and is one reason why you are usually able to stay in a painful situation longer than you should. Like the second frog, you don't realize the water's getting hotter until it's boiling over.

When it comes to changing a situation you are in, pain is a great motivator. You finally see the warning signs when things get too rough to handle any longer. For instance, when do you usually realize that you need to go on a diet? When none of your clothes fit you any longer. Or when do you realize that you should quit smoking? When you can't walk a block without struggling for breath.

The only time most of us ever attempt self motivation is when the whole world is crashing downaround us. The biggest reason you don't like to change is because it can be very painful at times. But the truth is that change is even more painful when you choose to ignore it.

Change will happen, like it or not. Throughout your lifetime, you are going to experience different turning points and change is going to occur, whether for the better or worse, whether you want to admit it or not.

So if change is going to occur anyway, wouldn't it be better to change because you want to instead of because you have to? Rather than waiting for the climatic disaster to hit, keep your eye out for the small details that are telling you that change is getting ready to happen.

For instance, if you notice that you are spending more money each week than you can reasonably afford, start working on managing your money better and quit spending so much on frivilous items. Don't wait until your car is repossessed or your lights are turned off.

Don't be like the frog who didn't realize change was happening until he got burnt.Change is goingto occur, whether you like it or not, so take control of your life, practice some self motivation and make the changes happen that you want to happen.

Goal Setting in 7 Easy Steps

The Artikel below is take on Gene Donohue article.
An interesting articleas a guide in setting goals that we wish to achieve. Intended purpose in detail can be a personal commitment to keep us to remember...because we'he outline.

    Ambition

The car is packed and you're ready to go, your first ever cross-country trip. From the White Mountains of New Hampshire to the rolling hills of San Francisco, you're going to see it all.
You put the car in gear and off you go. First stop, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
A little while into the trip you need to check the map because you've reached an intersection you're not familiar with. You panic for a moment because you realize you've forgotten your map.
But you say the heck with it because you know where you're going. You take a right, change the radio station and keep on going. Unfortunately, you never reach your destination.
Too many of us treat goal setting the same way. We dream about where we want to go, but we don't have a map to get there.
What is a map? In essence, the written word.
What is the difference between a dream and a goal? Once again, the written word.
Goal setting however is more than simply scribbling down some ideas on a piece of paper. Our goals need to be complete and focused, much like a road map, and that is the purpose behind the rest of this article.
If you follow the 7 goal setting steps I've outlined in this article you will be well on your way to becoming an expert in building the road maps to your goals.
    1. Make sure the goal you are working for is something you really want, not just something that sounds good.
I remember when I started taking baseball umpiring more seriously. I began to set my sites on the NCAA Division 1 level. Why? I knew there was no way I could get onto the road to the major leagues, so the next best thing was the highest college level. Pretty cool, right. Wrong.
Sure, when I was talking to people about my umpiring goals it sounded pretty good, and many people were quite impressed. Fortunately I began to see through my own charade.
I have been involved in youth sports for a long time. I've coached, I've been the President of leagues, I've been a treasurer and I'm currently an Assistant State Commissioner for Cal Ripken Baseball. Youth sports is where I belong, it is where my heart belongs, not on some college diamond where the only thing at stake is a high draft spot.
When setting goals it is very important to remember that your goals must be consistent with your values.
    2. A goal can not contradict any of your other goals.
For example, you can't buy a $750,000 house if your income goal is only $50,000 per year. This is called non-integrated thinking and will sabotage all of the hard work you put into your goals. Non-integrated thinking can also hamper your everyday thoughts as well. We should continually strive to eliminate contradictory ideas from our thinking.

    3. Develop goals in the 6 areas of life:
Family and Home               Financial and Career
Spiritual and Ethical           Physical and Health
Social and Cultural             Mental and Educational
Setting goals in each area of life will ensure a more balanced life as you begin to examine and change the fundamentals of everyday living. Setting goals in each area of life also helps in eliminating the non-integrated thinking we talked about in the 2nd step.
    4. Write your goal in the positive instead of the negative.
Work for what you want, not for what you want to leave behind. Part of the reason why we write down and examine our goals is to create a set of instructions for our subconscious mind to carry out. Your subconscious mind is a very efficient tool, it can not determine right from wrong and it does not judge. It's only function is to carry out its instructions. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get.
Thinking positively in everyday life will also help in your growth as a human being. Don't limit it to goal setting.
    5. Write your goal out in complete detail.
Instead of writing "A new home," write "A 4,000 square foot contemporary with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and a view of the mountain on 20 acres of land.
Once again we are giving the subconscious mind a detailed set of instructions to work on. The more information you give it, the more clear the final outcome becomes. The more precise the outcome, the more efficient the subconscious mind can become.
Can you close your eyes and visualize the home I described above? Walk around the house. Stand on the porch off the master bedroom and see the fog lifting off the mountain. Look down at the garden full of tomatoes, green beans and cucumbers. And off to the right is the other garden full of a mums, carnations and roses. Can you see it? So can your subconscious mind.
    6. By all means, make sure your goal is high enough.
Shoot for the moon, if you miss you'll still be in the stars. Earlier I talked about my umpiring goals and how making it to the top level of college umpiring did not mix with my values. Some of you might be saying that I'm not setting my goals high enough. Not so. I still have very high goals for my umpiring career at the youth level. My ultimate goal is to be chosen to umpire a Babe Ruth World Series and to do so as a crew chief. If I never make it, everything I do to reach that goal will make me a better umpire and a better person. If I make it, but don't go as a crew chief, then I am still among the top youth umpires in the nation. Shoot for the moon!
    7. This is the most important, write down your goals.
Writing down your goals creates the roadmap to your success. Although just the act of writing them down can set the process in motion, it is also extremely important to review your goals frequently. Remember, the more focused you are on your goals the more likely you are to accomplish them.
Sometimes we realize we have to revise a goal as circumstances and other goals change, much like I did with my umpiring. If you need to change a goal do not consider it a failure, consider it a victory as you had the insight to realize something was different.

So your goals are written down.
    Now what?
First of all, unless someone is critical to helping you achieve your goal(s), do not freely share your goals with others. The negative attitude from friends, family and neighbors can drag you down quickly. It's very important that your self-talk (the thoughts in your head) are positive.
Reviewing your goals daily is a crucial part of your success and must become part of your routine. Each morning when you wake up read your list of goals that are written in the positive. Visualize the completed goal, see the new home, smell the leather seats in your new car, feel the cold hard cash in your hands. Then each night, right before you go to bed, repeat the process. This process will start both your subconscious and conscious mind on working towards the goal. This will also begin to replace any of the negative self-talk you may have and replace it with positive self-talk.
Every time you make a decision during the day, ask yourself this question, "Does it take me closer to, or further from my goal." If the answer is "closer to," then you've made the right decision. If the answer is "further from," well, you know what to do.
If you follow this process everyday you will be on your way to achieving unlimited success in every aspect of your life.
